I posted about my daughters wedding, so now I wanted to share some of the DIY details that went into it! My daughter and I painted a beautiful wood easel with milk paint to hold her bridal portrait by her wedding cake. This was such a simple project that resulted in a gorgeous shabby chic easel! The easel already had beautiful detailing and the painting and distressing just enhanced it!
- We mixed The Real Milk Paint in the color Parchment with The Real Milk Paint Bonding Agent because we didn’t want a chippy finish on our easel.
- Next we painted two coats of the milk paint and we had to go back in a few places to apply a third coat to cover thoroughly.
- To make distressing a little easier, we wet distressed with baby wipes and with a damp sanding sponge. This made the paint distress away perfectly over the detailing.
- Finally, we sealed the easel with dark brown wax from Beautiful, some of my FAVORITE waxes, and buffed it for a smooth finish!
We used a family heirloom antique gold frame that my mothers portrait hung in, then held my bridal portrait and now my daughters bridal portrait is displayed in it.
