My name is Tina. Welcome to the Vintage Market Paint Studio web page!!
Here is a little bit about myself and what I do…
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design which I obtained at Mississippi State University in 1987. Over the years I have worked in the decorating and design field while living in Mississippi, Atlanta, Georgia, Montana, St. Croix, USVI, Tennessee, and Alabama, giving me experience in varied settings and environments.
I’ve enjoyed the variety and beauty that each place had to offer as inspiration for my creativity and design, such as grand southern beauty, rustic and rugged ranch style decor and designs, the beaches’ blue skies, palm trees, sea shells, and white sand freshness.
However, one of my favorite design inspirations is old Hollywood glamour, but I like to take it and make it a little rough around the edges with distressed pieces and some industrial creations thrown in the mix. My design dictum is “imperfect IS perfect”. I enjoy the juxtaposition of opulence and sparkle combined with wrought iron and rusty. There is no greater thrill than making this happen from vintage pieces I’ve collected and finding a unique way to recreate them into something spectacular.
I enjoy discovering those unusual finds when going to auctions, estate sales, flea markets yard sales, thrift stores, peoples’ old barns, attics and sheds, and yes, on occasion I actually come across some amazing finds lying on the curb, which I affectionately call my “curbside collections.”
I also have a “thing” for architectural fragments and old relics. They’re great for repurposing. Items are chosen for their unique appeal, which basically means that I liked it and it was interesting to me or that I appreciate its intrinsic value.
Refurbishing old furniture with a newly painted finish can turn trash into treasure. The home decor furniture paints that I carry are specifically designed to easily paint over previous finishes with little to no prep work. With over 30 years experience painting and refinishing furniture, I can help guide you in learning to use the different paints that I carry to create a beautifully finished piece.
We offer classes in our paint studio on a regular basis… Be sure to check out our PAINT CLASSES page!!! Vintage Market Paint Studio is where we paint some of the furniture and items that we find to bring out their hidden charm, as well as offering a variety of classes to choose from where you can learn some fun techniques, giving you the skills to use our paint products to their highest potential.
Having tested, tried and used many furniture and home decor paints in the industry, I am proud to be a retailer of “green”, eco-friendly paints with little to no VOC’s that are safe for the user and for the environment.
